Budapest Classic Gastro Experience with Wine Tasting – Why Paprika?
Have you ever wondered how to get the full Hungarian experience? Well here’s the answer: join our classic gastro tour with wine tasting! We promise you’ll leave filled with good food and good memories.
As they say, the best way to get acquainted with a new country is through its culinary culture. Our classic gastro tour lets you sample the traditional side of Hungarian cuisine along with some of the specialities being created by Hungary’s new wave of modern artisan producers. To help you discover the secrets of Hungarian gastronomy, your gastro-expert guide will meet you in front of the Main Market Hall. To start the tour, we explore the largest indoor food market in Budapest to get an idea of what Hungarians have on their dinner table.
You will see a great variety of fruits, vegetables, spices, all kinds of paprika products, meat products and funny animal parts and pickles etc. Be adventurous and try some samples! Your guide will whet your appetite with some special tastings. After the market visit, we proceed to a traditional restaurant in the charming nearby neighbourhood to have a proper goulash soup (gulyás in Hungarian!) and you will get the chance to try a typical Hungarian fruit brandy, the famous Pálinka as well. We continue with a lovely dessert stop in a little place frequented by locals. Sweet cheese dumplings? At this point, you’ll think Hungarians are crazy, but you’ll love it!
After this special culinary experience, we head to a wine cellar to try top-quality local wines. We finish the tour in the Jewish quarter (7th district) with a 3-tier wine tasting. After learning about Hungarian wine culture and wine regions, if you fancy, you can stay and self-explore the 7th district full of popular bars and pubs.
Need a nap after all this? Your guide can drop you close to the city center or direct you to public transport points.
And why paprika? Join us to learn why Hungarian paprika is so famous and what role it plays in everyday cooking and eating habits! After this food, wine and cultural walking tour, you won’t be hungry in Hungary!
